Fred McIntyre, 56, helps his wife Janet, 52, shower during a heavy rainstorm Thursday, July 19, 2012. The McIntyres usually drive 11 miles to their son's home to shower but when the weather is nice, they will set up a make-shift shower in their front yard in the Woodlands. "It's therapeutic," Ms. McIntyre said, "to be able to shower at my own house." The McIntyres stopped using their tap water for cooking, cleaning and drinking in early 2011 after becoming violently ill and now rely on bottled water. "If you think about it, how many times you turn the faucet on in a day, how many times you need water … it works all day. The faucet is always there, but my faucet is a jug," she said.
